Newsletter drafts via Kit API
Claude Code runs a custom /newsletter skill that finds recent blog posts, drafts a casual email in the author's voice, and creates a Kit broadcast.
The author's weekly newsletter now gets drafted and queued in Kit from the terminal, after review, without logging into the Kit dashboard.
Overview
How it was set up
Claude Code with a SKILL.md file in .claude/skills/newsletter, a Kit v4 API key in .env, and the site's content index JSON to find recent posts.
Worth knowing
Kit's API cannot create forms, sequences, or automations, so opt-in forms still need manual setup. The author reviews each draft before it is created.
A prompt to start from
Read [content index file] and list posts published in the last 7 days that are not drafts. Write a short, casual newsletter in [author name]'s voice, 2-4 short paragraphs, with a link and a one-line takeaway per post. Show me the draft, then create it as a broadcast via the [email platform] API.
