# Personal finance assistant in Markdown

Claude Code, with the Baselight MCP and a CLAUDE.md plus Markdown and YAML files, became a personal finance and investment assistant with no application code.

Result: The author replaced abandoned finance apps and a spreadsheet with a git-synced assistant that tracks portfolio, decisions, and plans.

## How it was set up

Claude Code with the Baselight MCP. CLAUDE.md sets behavior; portfolio.yaml, decisions.yaml and action_plans.md hold memory; themes.md extends it; pre-built SQL queries; git hooks encrypt sensitive data.
